A sincere call for help.

Hey all.  I read an artice today that really sent me over the top.  Mike Falcone over at "The Caucus" wrote an article about how the criminal Karl Rove was attacking Obama on abortion.

No big deal so far.  The really aggravating part came with this segment here

"Though he helped derail Senator McCain's presidential bid during the 2000 Republican primary, Mr. Rove lavished praise on his party's presumptive nominee on Friday. He spoke glowingly of Mr. McCain and his wife's decision to adopt a child from an orphanage in Bangladesh."

No note of the irony of the fact that Rove derailed McCain's 2000 campaign by raising the spectre of McCain HAVING FATHERED A BLACK CHILD.  This he now goes on to praise.

So I realize that this is minor compared to the more egregious distortions going on with that Donut delivery service laughingly caled the Associated Press.  But hey different straws for different camel's backs.

The point is I am fed up and pissed off.

I have a burning desire to fight back lest my head explode.

I am pretty new at this whole game so I could use some help.  In fact I'm yelling out for it here.

For instance does anybody know of a reliable way to get the e-mails for these various authors?  I wanted to point out to Mr. Falcone the irony I noted above but couldn't find his e-mail address.

How else do you fight back?  I looking for advice from some of you more experienced hands out there.  How does one raise an effective stink outside our little echo-chamber here.

How do we at least make it uncomfortable for them when the media lies or allows themselves to pass on lies.

I'm tired of screaming at my computer.

So oh great and wise MyDD community...what advice might you have?

ummm... having been through the lazy media's treatment of the last two Presidential campaigns, my only advice would be to take a deep breath... maybe play outside for a while... this will get worse before it gets better...

Bill Moyers calls this out frequently...  Media Matters and FAIR are dedicated to exposing it... It is here and will stay for a while until the public en masse calls it out.

McCain/Palin... even scarier than Bush/Cheney... and that's saying something!

That said, Media Matters and FAIR are always accepting feedback. If you see something, send it to them.

I am too tired to give you much of either at the moment, but I do want you and everyone else to see this:

Maybe we can appeal to C-Span to cover this. And thanks for the info, it should be very interesting.

Re: A sincere call for help. (2.00 / 0)

the best way to fight back is to make sure we win in november.  i believe the best way to do that is to register voters.

search for campaing events in your area here.
http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/sea rch_simple

in Kansas City the campaign had a goal of 1000 new registered voters this week.  So far they are at 870-something. We are registering more voters at the Chris Rock performance, and in the huge bar district tonight.

Step 1 - "tired of dynasties"? (2.00 / 2)

Change your name - - it's an insult to the 50%+ who voted for Hillary in the primaries.  Just sayin'.

John McCain says he would stay in Iraq for 100 years? That's crazy talk!

Re: Step 1 - "tired of dynasties"? (none / 0)

I'm frightfully sorry, but that's a totally honorable sentiment.  It's probative value (to borrow a legal term) is greater than the offense it might give.

Democracies do not often survive institutionalized dynasties.  We should ever be mindful of this, and that's not necessarily about the Clintons either.  The Roosevelts, for example, had what, a fifth of the 20th Century in power?

Re: Tired of smelly armpits (none / 0)

Yeah, those terrible Roosevelt and Clinton years -- so much prosperity and economic growth. Disgusting! LOL

Re: Tired of smelly armpits (none / 0)

Yeah, because there's nothing negative about the last two terms of the FDR administration.....

Re: Tired of smelly armpits (none / 0)

Don't forget the disastrous Adams dynasty. One averted war with France, and another invested in sorely needed infrastructure. Policy matters be damned, I must be certain that every president has a different surname!

you know i actually intended to do just that.  I just don't know how.  Do you?  Anything i can do to decrease the poking around here is a small price.

Re: A sincere call for help. (none / 0)

I think doing what you have done right here is step 1. This may be an echo chamber, but I would be willing to bet that most everyone who visits this place are talking to others who would never otherwise hear about these sorts of issues. I know I hear about these things here, and I talk to a lot of people..

Step 2 might be to support and/or oganize groups that expose the lies the media tell us campaign.

step 3. Do not forget you can always call or write your local newspaper, tv stations, etc. to let them know you do not appreciate them disseminating misinformation. That goes for the big boys as well. We are the owners of the media. We give them their licenses to operate and buy the products they hawk. It is people like you that can make a difference locally and nationally by demanding the truth.

This is kind off the top of my head. I am sure others around here have lots of ideas of things you can do, so I call out, asking for more ideas.
